Algonquin

Took a trip to the gonq for the first time last year in august with Dave, Robyn, Laurel (maid of honour) and some of Robyn's friends and family. We did a four hour canoe/portage into the interior, stayed 3 mights and then canoed another four hours out. Dave and I hauled a combined $4000 of camera equipment in watertight cases the whole way. A few pics were taken with Dave's polarizing filter. (I have my own this year.) Freakin amazing if I do say so myself. It's undeniable Ontario has some very beautiful places... isolated and barely touched by human hands. The air is so different there; noises of the city obselete. One of my favourite parts was leaving my cellphone behind for four whole days. And we're doing it all over again this year. Sweet.

dave, robyn and some random bits

So.. what to say about Dave. I met Dave the first week of university with a "who the f&ck is this guy" and we've been friends ever since. Robyn and him have been together for as long as I can remember and she's just wonderful. The year of the victory lap was when both Dave and I bought cameras way cooler than we are and started going oot and aboot this great city to take pics and learn. Adventures also include Meech Lake, The Covered Bridge and Algonquin Park.. but Algonquin is a post all on its own.

Last summer sometime the three of us went and visited my old roommate (from rez and vanier) and her new baby, Lincoln. What a handsome little man he is. I bet you he's huge by now.

patios

One of my favourite things about Ottawa is the patios. From the end of march to the end of november essentially you can find a patio to drink on somewhere in this city. Top to bottom. (i) Em and Luc B. This pic was waaay overexposed but I love the smile about to explode on her face. (ii) Luc Thompson and Emily with the fry yoink. (iii) Luc Thompson... this guy makes a cartoon online which features a bunch of the friends he went to university with. Emily is actually one of them. He's got a whacked sense of humour and I love it. You can find his strip here: Can You Believe I'm Single? www.cubis.ca

visits...

My favourite sister, Lindsay D and my parents all came to visit last year around Winterlude. Took my family to the war museum which was quite the experience. They had this exhibit of a collection of propaganda posters and videos from a few of the wars. A lot of Nazi and American propaganda frightening you into doing your part for the war. It's funny because the propaganda I see on tv today... isn't much different.

Little one

I was fortunate enough to be in Toronto for my birthday last year. I caught a ride back to Ottawa with my good friends Dave and Robyn... who also asked me to stand up for them in July when they get married. Anyway... came home with this little one. She was a runt dropped off at a pet store in a sack with 7 other kittens. She had 3 different parasites in her gut and one pound and one ounce at first weigh in. OBVIOUSLY I couldn't just leave her there. So she came home with us and I called her little one for the first 3 months because I couldn't come up with a suitable name. I still call her Little now and then even though she's probably about 10 pounds of purring fluff.

More flowers...

Last summer... City of Hamilton. I love those tulip trees. Seriously. And my mom... cause she's probably the best mom a girl could ask for.
P.s. I'm a huge nature geek if you couldn't tell already.
